If Monets and Matisses are too expensive for your budget (unless in poster form), cruise on over to DvA Gallery. Your white walls, and your wallet, will love you.

The gallery, located right beneath the L beyond the intersection of Sheffield and Lincoln Avenues, is small, only about 1000 square feet, which accommodates the modest but colorful exhibitions. An open office space—a desk really—sits in the back corner, behind which owner David van Alphen displays a wide array of sample frames, a stark contrast to the white walls.

As for the collection, the gallery represents an eclectic variety of artists whose work ranges from paintings of quirky, cartoon-like characters to fictitious animals to images of couples. Photographs, stationary and even wearable art (jewelry, t-shirts and handbags) are also available. Van Alphen, an artist himself, believes that by stocking affordable pop art by contemporary artists, he's able to reach a bevy of personalities and patrons with widely varying budgets. Prices range from $200-$1000 for pieces, and a new show occurs each month.
