Editorial Review of Burwood Tap

photo: Courtesy of Nick Flandro
Even though it's one of the oldest taverns in the area, the decently-dressed revelers refuse to let its age or charm show through. From its exterior, one would expect that any seventeen-year-old could buy a beer here. But young punks are met by efficient bouncers who are never in a good mood.

The Tap itself is larger than it appears; there are two full bars and a nuisance of a pool table in-between. To its credit, the Burwood is a friendly place to drink before it fills up. There's free popcorn, too. The waitresses are pleasing and affable, and the jukebox serves as a time capsule for most of the customers' high school years with the likes of Skid Row and Bon Jovi inspiring sing-a-longs. The music and people get louder as the night gets later, and it becomes a bit like a big ol' bar party and everyone's invited. Those of drinking age, anyway.
