At University Village's Drum and Monkey, dinner isn't just the third meal of the day; it's a main event.
The bar's Irish-inspired menu offers heaping plates of beer-battered fish and chips, claimed to be an age-old family recipe. One of the meatier selections here is a must-try: the Cajun pork and bourbon. This 10-ounce pork chop gets seasoned with all the right spices, thrown onto the grill and then served with scallion mash and pineapple bourbon sauce. As far as entrees go, Drum and Monkey only offers one vegetarian dish, but they've got a slew of meat-free appetizers and salads to make up for it.
If you came just for the food, you'll want to stick around for the cheap drink deals. These specials are offered daily and range from $1 Miller Lite drafts on Mondays to $5 Patron shots on Saturdays. Drum and Monkey's specials don't stop with the libations, either. The bar also hosts weekly events like pub trivia Mondays (8 p.m.), karaoke Tuesdays and Guitar Hero Thursdays.
