Editorial Review of Tavern on Rush

Forget trends; Tavern on Rush is the place to be and has been for as long as you have been wearing designer labels. Whether you want cocktails after work or a place to a need-to-impress date, the Gold Coast bar and restaurant is an obvious choice.

The multi-level space is impressive, complete with couches and booths to unwind. The shuttered picture windows allow guests to watch the hustle and bustle outside while playing it cool inside. In the summer months, Tavern on Rush has the lock on outdoor dining.

The contemporary steakhouse offers up a mix of classic American dishes. Executive chef John Gatsos prides himself on serving quality fare. He can't be shy about it either, as the kitchen opens up to the dining room and gives customers a sneak peek before supper. Need to fill up before a big day? Tavern on Rush hosts breakfast with dishes like the Tavern Benedict, a twist on the early-morning classic. For lunch, you can woo clients with a filet mignon flatbread or maybe just a salad (you don't want to get caught with steak juice dripping down your chin). For dinner, recharge with premium steaks, chops, pasta and seafood. If you're in the mood to put on a show, try the whole Denver sole that is filleted tableside or the chateaubriand (each $36.95), which has a two-person minimum and is carved tableside.
