Bobby Broom

Well-known Chicago jazz guitarist whose spur-of-the-moment solo style includes funk and blues... Neil Tesser, the Chicago Reader jazz critic, says that "Bobby Broom's distinction lies in the subtle eclecticism of his playing."

The Chicago Tribune's Howard Reich says "He shows a musical depth, a technical ease and a degree of stylistic individuality that few of his colleagues approach."

The Bobby Broom Trio has been actively recording and performing since 1994 and has received national recognition (reviews and airplay) for its 2001 recording, Stand! and its latest, 2007's Song and Dance. The group is planning a new live release for 2008.

Broom is also a co-leading member of Chicago's Deep Blue Organ Trio with organist Chris Foreman and drummer Greg Rockingham. Together since 1992, the group began recording for Delmark Records in 2004 and have released three successful CDs and one DVD. Its latest, Folk Music, rose to #2 on the national jazz chart and was also nominated for Best Jazz Recording of 2007. This group has performed every Tuesday night at The Green Mill since 2003.
