| Flutist was appointed by Sir Georg Solti to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1973. At that point, she was the Civic Orchestra of Chicago's principal flute and a member of the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra. The Pigeon, Michigan native began studying piano with her mother and continued through college. She picked up the flute during high school, earned a performer's certificate and Bachelor of music degree at Indiana University and a master's degree at Northwestern University (where she studied with CSO members James Pellerite and Walfrid Kujala). The Evanston resident has been an active performed in the Orchestra's Chamber Music Series, a frequent guest artist with the Chicago Chamber Musicians, and has been a yearly soloist in the city's annual Bach Week Festival. She also does volunteer work at Evanston Hospital.
