Formerly: Ancient Romans thought wine, partying and fertility all went hand in hand, and worshipped a god, Bacchus, who reigned supreme over all three. Chicago’s homage to Bacchus comes in the form of a three-floor nightclub, but don’t expect to find sexy girls in togas or drunken gladiators here. The Lincoln Park spot snubs Italian decor, except for near the entrance where the wall displays a painted Roman character.

About half the size of the second level, the main floor has low ceilings, big black couches, a lit marble bar, flat screen TVs and Christmas lights throughout, which makes it feel like a pimped-out basement (with an ATM). The second floor splits into two areas. On the left, high-backed, blue and tan couches line walls that lead to a private room painted red from floor to ceiling. A bar sits in the center, and the right side has a dance floor, large windows overlooking Lincoln Avenue, an elevated seating area and a red wall with large, oval LED lights that change color. The third, smaller level houses the DJ booth (although most nights the bartenders play CDs), which looks out on the dance floor below.

While Bacchus would probably frown on the club’s interior, he would surely love its party packages. Starting at $25 per person for well cocktails and $30 for premium, from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. you and your friends will truly get to party like the Romans. If you can’t get a posse together, you can conquer the drink specials, like $3 you-call-it on Thursday and $5 martinis on Friday, alone.
