Shaking up an area dominated by Western-themed bars and tired storefronts is Tini Martini, a lounge/nightclub spot that appeases Logan Square residents more interested in techno than line dancing. Though the velvet ropes guarding the bar's entrance give off an air of exclusivity, this haunt is just the place for those in search of a more casual, less "see-and be-seen" setting for dancing and more.
The club features a wide range of music for the Jekyll & Hyde in each of us, offering two rooms to fit your nighttime personality. The more casual martini drinkers people the main room, accented by DJs spinning mainly top 40 hip-hop and reggae. The serious clubgoer should set up shop in the second room, where DJs blare a healthy diet of house and techno. On Saturdays the bar's promoters bring in a variety of international DJs and performers, providing even more variety for a crowd that tends to change with the music.
Although Tini Martini prides itself on offering a casual atmosphere for clubgoers, it does add some VIP touches for those who crave that red-carpet feeling. In addition to the velvet ropes, the bar's red and black decor, accented by assorted mirrors and tables along the back as well as a raised seating area behind the door, provide a touch of glamour. In true VIP fashion, many of the tables are reserved for bottle service. But don't be intimidated by the fancy signs: No one will object if you take a seat, so long as a high roller doesn't come along needing a table for his bottle of Cristal. Fortunately for the average clubgoer, you don't have to be a high roller here; the bar features a wide selection of $5 martinis on the weekends and there's no cover to get in. The club also offers up its back room for private parties.
