The word “legend” tends to be thrown around recklessly nowadays, but when it comes to Flash there’s no better word. In addition to being a stepfather to hip-hop he’s also acknowledged as one of the first to introduce crossfading, which in medical terms is the scalpel used to do the cutting. In 2007 Flash (along with the Furious Five) was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame making them the first hip-hop group ever to have been bestowed the honor. The singular nod blew the door open for other hip-hop greats to walk through, which is just another example of Flash's trailblazing ways. After all these years Flash still has the skills and taste to move the crowd, and it’s no surprise that the MID (who has booked some stellar DJs since opening) commissioned him to honor the decks. For $10 this show is a steal. (J. Min)
