Although they've drawn comparisons to Tortoise, local stalwarts Pelican has more than earned their keep as genre-defying architects. They’ve experienced quite a bit of change over the years specifically the departure of Laurent Schroeder-Lebec, but nevertheless the backbone of Pelican is still heartily intact. Their newest EP Ataraxia/Taraxis continues their march forward into a soundscape that they describe as “melodic rock, smoky doom, ambient soundscape, acoustic desert-folk, and minimalist electronics." Their set at Lincoln Hall will be a perfect place for them to explore these sounds. Early arrival is recommended. (J. Min)
