Know No Limits may urge you to push your physical boundaries, but this Andersonville gym has one very important limit: It caps its membership. The payoff for its patrons is personalized service and no waiting in line for equipment, even during prime hours.
You won't find frills, but if you're a down-to-basics type, you'll get what you need at a flexible and reasonable rate. The fitness center features state-of-the-art strength training machines and cardio equipment, free weights and locker rooms. The space feels open and clean, and distressed brick walls and exposed piping overhead lend an urban feel. Membership is commitment-free: Either pay month-to-month ($55 gets you access to equipment and locker rooms, as well as deeply discounted rates on class packages), or drop in to work out when you want for $15 a visit. You'll never see an initiation fee, and you're free to cancel and restart at any time.
Classes: The studio houses one room for its classes, which are refreshingly small and allow for personal attention from the instructors. Classes include cardio boxing, body cycling (like spinning), 20-minute abs classes (open to all members) and circuit training, which offers an opportunity to workout in a small group with a certified personal trainer for the same cost as a class.
Extras: You can work one-on-one with a personal trainer for $45-$50/hour or sign-up with a partner for $70/hour. KNL's massage therapists offer sports, pregnancy, infant, Swedish and deep tissue massage. The center also contracts with licensed acupuncturists and a registered dietician to offer acupuncture sessions and nutritional counseling.
