One Good Thing
A healthy mix of porn and parenting.

One Good Thing's Leigh Anne Wilson, with kids in tow.
As a full-time mom, blogger, professional and online sex shop owner, One Good Thing author Leigh Anne Wilson has more than one good thing on her plate. She made a name for herself as the Lakeview sex shop owner who brought her baby to work everyday so she could nurse him. The shop has since closed and operates solely online, but Wilson continues to do the same thing from the comfort of her home: blog, parent and surround herself with an eclectic selection of toys for kids of all ages.

As for her blog, it's what you'd expect from an adoring and sarcastic mom: sharing her favorite childhood TV program with her kids to explaining which she son favors and why. And there's always room for some good old nepotism, promoting her eight-month-old literary blog, Books Are Pretty, and of course, the sex shop.

What's the gist of your blog?
When I make a decision of whether want to write about something, the final question is 'When you look back on this when you're in your 70s, is it something you want to remember?' Yes, I have an audience, so I do tweak things to make it clear and readable and entertaining. But...I'll look back at these things, the little details that fade away. I was checking back on a link [about] taking my kids to the doctor. Both of them had accidents really bad and I'd forgotten the diaper bag. Well the doctor McGyvers up this makeshift diaper and cleans up the kids. I had totally forgotten all about that [incident]. It's kind of in lieu of having a scrapbook. I try and write about who I was and who the kids were [so I'll remember].

If I read your blog today, gimme one thing I'd learn.
That we're having a tremendous sale on sex toys today! You can get vibrators for two bucks! The [Honeysuckle] website was down for a month...so we're like, 'It's time for a sale.'

My computer is surrounded by...
Books. I'm looking at graphic novels on the top shelf. Books I really love right below it. I've got Cloud Atlas, A Confederacy of Dunces and The Time Traveler's Wife.

How do you pay the bills?
My husband has a parenting magazine called Parentland. Honeysuckle brings in the other half. I also just got a full time job. If you learn anything from me, it's don't write about your work on your blog.

When you aren't loving blogging, you're loving BLANK in Chicago.
I love everything bout Chicago. I was born in South Carolina and went to college in North Carolina. When I got here I knew Chicago would be my hometown. I love everything about it.

Name a local blogger extraordinaire.
