The second of its record kind in the neighborhood, Johann’s Face Records personality Marc Ruvolo would essentially be hawking his collection of cult books, fantasy and speculative fiction oddities he jokingly refers to as “junk” if not for the realization that his punk past would color the old law office space a bit more lucrative.
Having a hand in the production and signing of more than 100 local, usually abrasive, tongue-in-cheek punksters from the Smoking Popes to the Sass Dragons (see latest LP New Kids On The Bong) since the late ‘80s, a third of Bucket O’ Blood’s mass of “junk” celebrates Ruvolo’s other passion – vinyl. It has music nerds young and old streaming in to see all of the rarities, “priced to move,” assures Ruvolo, well under $10.
As for the junk proper, Ruvolo’s quick to show off his ancient astronaut member card that his dad bought him in his teens, when not categorizing a good four 9-by-5 bookcases of occult literature also tagged to steal under $5. And be sure to check out the “awesome” section in the back, thumbed with a bit of true crime, historical fiction, humor and popular science for kicks.
