| This Northwestern University alum (CAS 1986) submitted his first story for publication in NU literary mag TriQuarterly while he was in high school. Though not published, Reginald Gibbons invited Chaon to come to Northwestern. After further studies at Syracuse, Chaon is now the author of a collection of short stories, Fitting Ends and Other Stories (1995, TriQuarterly), and a professor of creative writing at Oberlin University. This author, who New York Newsday calls "a major talent," is working on another short story compendium, and an anthology of forgotten short story writers of this century.
