It's appropriate that the Loop's artistic way-to-go is as towering as downtown itself. The 2,500-seat Cadillac Palace Theatre provides an evening out fit for tourists and natives alike. Opened in 1926, the Cadillac Palace Theatre has been beautifully restored to its vaudeville days, but with modern technological improvements. Inspired by the palaces of Versailles and Fontainebleau, the majestic theater has seen the likes of Bob Hope, Mae West and Jimmy Durante take the stage.
Following a decades-long stint as a movie palace, the theater was converted into a rock venue in 1984. Remodeled in 1999 to its current splendor, the Cadillac Palace was home to the successful nine-month run of "The Lion King"— an ambitious show that fits right in with the grandeur of the space.
