We may not be in Vegas, but Dick's Last Resort certainly captures some of that "what happens here, stays here" outlandishness. Catering largely to tourists since 1988, Streeterville's headquarters for revelry comes complete with sassy wait staff, theme nights and mighty good drinks.
The sprawling bar and restaurant can seat 300 (tack on another 50 on the veranda and 100 on the dock along the Ogden Slip during summer months). A full-service bar spans the entire length of the room, festooned with dangling bras. Between the bar and open kitchen sits a dance floor, pinball machines and racks of slogan-ridden tee shirts, hats, boxers and bumper stickers for sale.
Originally a Dallas-based establishment serving only chicken, ribs and crab, Dick's now boasts a hearty menu of finger foods, full-on entrees and booze, some of which is actually served in small tin buckets. Enormous entrees provide a feast for $18.99-$24.99, and include a half roasted BBQ chicken served with fries and slaw and full rack of ribs. In keeping with the "go ahead, overeat" theme, an all-you-can-stuff-in-your-mouth Sunday brunch (plus bloody mary bar) is served weekly.
Dick's wisecracking bartenders mix the kind of drinks you'd expect to sip in Myrtle Beach: big-ass beers (23 ounces, in a take-home glass), margaritas and coffee coladas. And what do coladas and wisecrackers attract? Bachelorette parties! And any other office party or event you might need a home for; additionally, Dick's stages its own crazy fun—'70s Prom Night, Elvis' birthday and karaoke party, Jimmy Buffet Night and Disco-rama Boogie Night, to name a few.
A warning to partygoers trying to find this popular emporium of fun for the first time: The main entrance is actually on McClurg behind Fox and Obel.
