The Alex and Doug acoustic duo formed in late April 2005 and have since been performing all over the Chicago land area. Originally, Alex Hoffer and Doug Swenson performed solo for two years before meeting one another. Doug first saw Alex playing at Gruben’s Uptown Tap in Plainfield, IL and was impressed by his ability to cover Dave Matthews. Doug introduced himself immediately and suggested that they play together. The two worked out a show and meshed right from the start.
The duo mainly plays acoustic covers by Dave Matthews and Jack Johnson; but their set also includes popular sing/dance alongs. With Alex Hoffer on lead vocals and rhythm guitar and Doug Swenson on lead guitar and backing vocals, the two provide lively entertainment with their Takamine guitars and engaging voices. Alex and Doug have progressively built a following; starting with their home base, Gruben’s Uptown Tap, and spreading to larger venues like 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park, IL. Alex and Doug enjoy playing and want to do so for as long as possible. They look forward to wherever it may take them.
