| Chicago (April 16, 1923, March 23, 1977) trombonist played with the Earl Hines band in 1942-3 (he was 19 then), 1946-8, and 1951-3, Charlie Ventura (1948-9), Gene Ammons-Sonny Stitt (1950), and led his own quintets in the mid-'50s and early '60s. After an inactive period, he formed his own group in 1968, and played with Duke Ellington in 1969, before finishing his career with a number of Las Vegas hotel bands. You can hear him (with J.J. Johnson, Kai Winding and Willie Dennis) on a 1953 live session put together by Charles Mingus, Four Trombones (Prestige).
