"Big" Bill Broonzy
Late Mississippi-born Chicago bluesman who recorded with Pete Seeger, Sonny Terry, Brownie McGhee, and Leadbelly. He arrived in Chicago in 1920, played South Side clubs, and toured with Memphis Minnie during the 30s. He recorded over 350 compositions, and was discovered in the fifties by a young, white, college-educated audience, and spent the rest of his life performing at folk festivals nationwide.

Recordings include Big Bill Broonzy -- Good Time Tonight (Columbia). Some of his classic Bluebird recordings (done at Aurora's Leland Hotel) were reissued by RCA earlier this year.
