| The Big Daddy Roaches produce a sound with an unfamiliarity to Chicago. Rather, this area quartet has a driving, melodic, feel-good sonic ambiance of something you may find in a place like Boulder, Colo. Amy Schayer's vocals by and large lead this group, sometimes booming, sometimes raspy, and by and far the most prominent sound in their catchy pop. Illinois Entertainer critic Gwen Ihnat says songwriter Amy Schayer "sounds like a young Janis." They released a four-song EP in 1997 titled Anyway, recorded and mixed by Bob Pucci at Metropolis Studios in Villa Park. Filling out the lineup in their self-proclaimed "New Breed Hip" are Larry Kucera on guitar, Heather (last name still unknown) on bass and Pauly (once again lacking a last name) on drums.
