| Branch, one of Chicago's best young harpists, has matured since beginning his stint with the Sons of Blues, growing into the style of his mentor, Big Walter Horton as well as Little Walter, James Cotton and Junior Wells. Last year's The Blues Keep Following Me Around is excellent. Says the Chicago Reader, "Branch has the chops to indulge in showy barrages of clustered notes, but prefers to let tradition and taste dictate his sets." You can also catch Branch backing John Primer on the guitarists major-label debut The Real Deal (Atlantic). Branch is also one of the founders of Blues in the Schools, in which he (and other Chicago blues craftsmen) teach the music in local elementary schools. He is also scheduled to join fellow harpist Kim Wilson (ex-Fabulous Thunderbirds) in his headlining gig at the 1999 Chicago Blues Festival.
