Contemporary chamber music ensemble collective of friends which performs new works and 20th-century classics, as well older pieces which provide some historical context. Members include flutists Caroline Pittman & Mitchell.html>Janice Misurell-Mitchell, oboist Patricia Morehead, pianist Philip Morehead, and percussionist Dane Richeson. Formed in 1987, it is has been a collective of composers and performers specializing in contemporary msuic for winds (including collaborations with other instruments and voice). Their CUBE Calendar lists contemporary music events in Chicagoland, as well as articles on new music (email cube@cubeensemble.com to get on their mailing list).
The Chicago Tribune's Ted Shen calls "Chicago's most exciting new music ensemble," and the chicago Sun-Times Wynne Delacoma agrees, calling them, "... one of Chicago's liveliest avant garde ensembles."
