| Well-known Chicago studio (Brad Wood, Brian Deck, John McEntire, John Humphrey, etc.) apparently got its name from the sort of self-indulgent ("full of id") music it was trying not to make. Idful closed due to landlord troubles several years ago, but the diaspora is still busy recording music throughout the city, at Engine, Clava, Soma, and other production houses.
