| Jim has returned to his old post at the Sun Times (au revoir, Jae Ha!) after a brief freelancing stint out of Minneapolis and a huge row with Rolling Stone's Jan Wenner. DeRogatis was apparently jettisoned from his position at the magazine because of comments about the aging publisher. Questioned about his negative review of Hootie & the Blowfish (which never ran), DeRogatis said Wenner was "just a fan of bands that sell eight and a half million albums." Still, his first book Kaleidoscope Eyes: Psychedelic Rock From the '60s To The '90s was published by Citadel Press. Yep, from acid to ecstacy... We were rather fond of the opinionated DeRogatis, and his former Sound Opinions radio sparring partner, former reader critic Bill Wyman. He and the Tribune's Greg Kot now host the program on 'XRT Tuesday nights from 10-midnight. Speaking of being fired, DeRogatis briefly (two weeks) assumed Wyman's reader Hitsville column, before being himself replaced by Peter Margasak.
