| With traces of Paul Westerberg, Freedy Johnston and David Lowery, local rocker Jonathan Rundman shows impressive musical ambition and confidence in his third album, Recital (1997, Salt Lady Records). Since arriving in Chicago from the Eugene, Ore., in the fall of 1996, Rundman has been a steady performer on the regional club and coffeehouse scene, with gigs at spots such as Gunther Murphy's. Recital features guitarist Dag Juhlin of Poi Dog Pondering and The Slugs, and drummer Pat Tomek of the Kansas City, Mo., band The Rainmakers. His previous two albums were 1992's 28 Days in the Yellow Room and 1994's Wherever. For more information, visit their website: http://www.mich.com/~tbberg/saltlady.html
