| This Northwestern University associate professor is a specialist in music and dance of 17th, 18th and early 19th centuries. The author of "French Court Dance and Dance Music: A Guide to Primary Source Writings" (Pendragon Press, 1987), she's also the contributor to the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians (Macmillan, 1980). The author of articles on Mozart's operas, Haydn's symphonies and concerti, concepts of unity and musical character, and the music of Hasse and M. G. Monn, Schwartz received her PhD from New York University.
