| Long one of Chicago's most important sidemen, Chicago blues legend Gibson has played on records by Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Billy "the Kid" Emerson, Willie Mabon, on Son Seals 1978 Live and Burning (Alligator Records), as well as two critically-acclaimed LPs under his own name (on the Red Lightnin' and Black Magic labels, respectively). You can also find 4 excellent sides on Evidence Records' collection of R&B & Blues sessions which had formerly appeared on Sun Ra's Saturn label. Gibson's style melds Delta and Chicago blues with some country and improvisatory oddness. His bands have traditionally been a bit uneven, but his chops are undeniable.
