Leadfoot is a high energy four-piece non-trad bluegrass band from the south side of Chicago made up of mandolin, acoustic guitar, electric bass, and drums. They play hot pickin’ originals, (vocals w/ harmonies and eclectic instrumentals) and their own versions of covers and traditionals.
Leadfoot has been around for about four years, and has gone through many lineup changes. The current and best lineup is made up of Garrett Degnan laying down fat bass, Mike Holtz beatin’ heavy rhythms on his stripped down custom drum set, founding member Steve Haberichter on mandolin pickin’ till his fingers bleed, and Mike Vanier, a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, adding a blend of jazz and blues to the eclectic bluegrass mix.
Leadfoot has played all around the Midwest and Chicago playing with such bands as Splitlip Rayfield, Railroad Earth, Drew Emmitt Band, and The Special Consensus to name a few.
