Marc Courtney Johnson

"A fantastic young vocalist has come on the scene mixing the classical standards of the likes of King Cole, Sinatra, Hartman and Eckstine seamlessly with modern jazz and R&B for an eclectic and moving musical experience you'll not soon forget.

Marc has been involved with music in some capacity all of his life. Singing in church youth from age 5 through 13. In junior high he was introduced to the clarinet and developed a love for classical music, playing in a variety of ensembles through high school.

Marc began college at Northern Illinois University where he briefly pursued a vocal performance degree, studying for a semester with Basso Cantante Myron Myers. During his time at NIU he sang with the NIU Chorus, and toured with the NIU Black Choir.

After transferring to the University of Illinois at Chicago and finishing with a business degree, Marc joined the ranks of corporate america and returned to his roots in church primarily as a solo vocalist. It has been in this period that he discovered a calling to Jazz. In the Winter of 2004 Marc produced and released his first self-titled CD with phenominal talent Dan Cray and his Trio. The CD was well received by jazz stations nationally & internationally receiving thousands of plays on to date. In 2006 The CD was nominated for best Vocal Jazz CD in the in the Just Plain Folk Music Awards out of some 25 thousand submitted and the original song "To Be Free" was nominated for best vocals jazz song.

Over this time Marc has worked steadily with many of the top musicians in Chicago at legendary venues such as Green Dolphin Street, the Green Mill Cocktail Lounge, Pops for Champagne and many more. Most recently, Marc and the Arlen Music band Front of House provided entertainment at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas for their annual New Year's Eve Gala.

Marc's second CD is under way and should be available in the 2nd quarter of 2007."
