| Alternative/rock group Marigold Engine features Erik Saari on guitar and keyboards, Steve Taylor on vocals, Jon Paul on bass, and Joe Bianco on drums. Paul and Bianco also play with jazz guitarist Fareed Haque. In 1996, Saari, Taylor and Paul played together in the band Popgun. Though the group enjoyed performing locally - and even cut a CD - members felt the music scene heading in a new direction and broke up. In 1998, Saari and Taylor began writing for new group, which evolved into Marigold Engine. With lyrics about love, loss and the like, the band compares itself to U2, Seal and radiohead.
