| Chicago pianist, composer and bandleader best known for his nine-or-so-piece Project Nine. He plays regularly in small ensembles at Pops for Champagne, with his big band (Limited Edition Jazz Orchestra), and an Afro-Caribbean outfit, Tropicale. Vente studied with jazz great Gil Evans and came away from the experience as one of Chicago's most respected arrangers. He's also a notable producer, who organizes a yearly Jazz Festival at Joe Segal's Jazz Showcase.
