Mary Godfrey
Mary Godfrey has music in her bloodline. Starting with the “Arthur Godfrey Show” (her father’s second cousin) and her brother, Todd Kelly, Mary was always surrounded by music. As a young child she was influenced by her brothers' Honkey Tonk Folk/Country Hoot-n-na-ne-e style. Todd was a folk singer of the 1960’s Greenwich Village/Bob Dylan days, and had a release on ESP Disk Records, which has recently re-emerged. He toured nationally until 1986 when he formed his Chicago Recording Label,TKr Records. Mary was instilled with her family’s passion for music and found a desire to play guitar & bass. She was soon performing her own material in the Chicago area, where she was born and raised. Mary joined and started many bands, with Faces Of Emotion garnering the most notariety and holding ground from '86-'93. In 1993 Mary headed to Boston, Ma. While there she recorded with David Brown, former lead guitarist for Billy Joel, and performed at many of the fine singer songwriter venues. In 2000 Mary relocated to Arizona, where she still resides today. Currently Mary is working on her third solo album, and she also writes and performs with Carey Slade in the band Sla-Day. In 1995 Marys' brother Todd fell way to a heart attack and left this world. Mary returns to Chicago every December for the Todd Kelley Memorial hosted by some of the TKR artists and The Gallery Caberat. Mary also travels through Chicago every summer while touring with Sla-Day.
