Melvin Taylor's not the traditional Chicago-style blues artist - his jazz-influenced scales and clean-cut look strive in different direction - but his shows remain both musically rewarding and exciting. Says the New York Times' Peter Waltrous, "... a volcanic guitarist... the sort of virtuosity that drags an audience into a world of risks and chance and excitement." Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Taylor was raised in Chicago on the blues. His Melvin Taylor & the Slack Band ranks as Evidence Records' all-time bestseller. His latest albums, 1997's Dirty Pool and the more recent Bang That Bell, are also on Evidence. Melvin will be spending a good part of '08 touring the US, Europe & South America. He will also be playing a variety of gigs in the Chicago area. Additionally, Melvin will be getting to work soon on his first CD since '02.
