| Spinanes leader moved to Chicago from Portland when the other half of the band (Scott Plouf) quit to join Built to Spill. Gates, who became a minor indie star in 1993 with the release of Manos, recently completed a solo tour of Urban Outfitters locations -- grin -- marketing her first post-Plouf Spinanes record, Arches and Aisles.
