| Chicago-born bassist -- a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since 1978 -- has commuted for the past two decades from Wisconsin, where his wife is a cellist in the Milwaukee Symphony. Lester studied at Northwestern University with Warren Benfield (a former Symphony member), and played with the Grant Park Symphony, Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra, and Milwaukee Symphony before joining the CSO. He teaches at Roosevelt University.
