| Ex-WBEZ employee jockeys an excellent nationally-syndicated (about 70 stations) blues radio show called "Blues Before Sunrise." Through old Fleetwood Mac and Johnny Rivers, Cushing got interested in the blues. He began sitting in with blues musician at Florence's and Queen Bee's Lounge, and regularly with Magic Slim & The Teardrops. He took some broadcasting classes at Columbia College, and eventually began playing blues records on the radio at WRRG, and then moved to WBEZ in 1980.
