The Lakeside Singers

Not-for-profit Evanston-based professional singing ensemble founded in the fall of 1999. Conducted by Robert Bowker, their concerts feature classical masterpieces from around the world as well as vocal jazz, gospel, rhythm and blues, and popular standards. The following recent concert program gives you an idea of their musical diversity: selections from America, England, Latvia, Sweden, Germany and Haiti, and popular holiday favorites with arrangements based on the work of Ella Fitzgerald, Boyz II Men, James Ingram, Michael McDonald and the Beach Boys, as well as gospel, jazz and salsa arrangements accompanied by the Lake Singers' in-group band. As in all concerts, the audience participated in the finale, this time in a sing-along of seasonal carols and songs.

The group includes professional singers from varying backgrounds: opera and musical theatre stages, movies, TV and radio commercials, early music ensembles, cabarets, recordings and classical and popular concerts across the U.S. Individual credits include appearances at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Broadway shows, Chicago Symphony Center, Grant Park Symphony, Light Opera Works, the Aspen Opera Theatre and national and European tours.
