| Tenor saxophonist moved to New York during 1997, limiting his participation in a number of Chicago bands, including the Chicago Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra and Willie Pickens' Quintet. Herbert, who.attended the University of Miami, earned a BA in Jazz Performance in 1992. He's toured worldwide with Charles Earland Band including 1994 Cruise with Freddy Hubbard. Currently free-lancing with experience in all mediums including swing, bebop, and hard bop. Says Chicago Reader jazz critic Neil Tesser, "Herbert... plays with fire, but it comes out of his fingers; his heated improvisations contrast with the 1950s cool of his tone."
