Vini and the Demons

The Dark Side of the Blues!

The city of Gainesville, which was mentioned in Muddy Waters', Deep Down in Florida, is where Vini and the Demons came together for their debut performance on October 29, 1999. For the next two years, from Miami's Tobacco Road to Fat Matt’s Rib Shack in Atlanta, they made their mark. At the beginning of winter in 2001, the Demons decided to relocate as a band to Chicago like their blues heroes before them, to help keep the blues thriving into the 21st century and beyond. Vini and the Demons made this commitment in part with the encouragement of Muddy Waters’ daughter Ros, and the legendary Bo Diddley; both supporters and fans of the band.

Currently, Vini and the Demons perform regularly at Chicago venues including Eddy Clearwater's Reservation Blues, Rosa's Lounge, the Hard Rock Café, the House of Blues Hotel, and many more. The Demons have performed on just about every blues stage in town, including the Checkerboard Lounge, Buddy Guy's Legends, Lee's Unleaded, and their regular Monday sit-ins at Artis’ Lounge with their good friends, Billy Branch and the Sons of the Blues. In September of 2002, the Demons were invited to perform on the garden stage at Willie Dixon’s Blues Heaven Foundation (originally Chess Records) by Shirli Dixon, Willie’s daughter-- an honor they will never forget. Performing from a repertoire of over 70 blues standards and original Demon songs, Vini and the Demons keep their audiences drinking, dancing, and directly experiencing the blues as it was meant to be played.

"The Demons play traditional blues with the cacophonous fervor and anarchic abandon of punk rockers. Think Robert Johnson at 200 decibels." -- Independent Florida Alligator

Influences include Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Muddy Waters, Freddie King, Son House, Skip James, Billy Branch, Eddy Clearwater, Howlin' Wolf, Duster Bennett and many more.
