Voodoo Kings

This Chicago-based band (likened to NYC's God Street Wine) fuses rock, blues and southern funk. The group formed in 1994 and by 1995 had toured with Shirley King (daughter of blues legend B.B.). They have a 1996 self-titled nine-song album, and a second CD, Gone to the Dogs.

"Although I've heard a lot of bands in the bluesy-rock vein," says Chicago Tribune's Lou Carlozo, "what the Voodoo Kings pull off with "Poolhustlers and Junkies" approaches an epic tune that sets them apart. They're engaging vocally, energentically musically and I look forward to greater things from this band." For more information, see this Centerstage Voodoo Kings article.

Members include Chicago native Michael Kranicke, Doug Iha, Rick Deja, Xazavian Valladay, Chris Gould, Andy Strode.

The band has released their third album entitled, "American Lights" (2002).
