Zach Phillips

Zach Phillips is a Chicago-based folk-rock singer/songwriter. In late 2003, he released his second full-length album, "Still Night." Drawing on rock, folk and alternative-country influences, “Still Night” is a 3 a.m. album - only not so sleepy. Lyrics and topical matter evoke the psychology of heartache, the Zen release of too much heartache and then hint toward happier times. It's mellow and pretty, but edgy, as well. It borders on sentimental, but is saved by its uncompromising rock n' roll spirit. It waxes the spiritual, but not too much. It has sad songs, it has a lot of love songs. Zach’s voice is an unadulterated, soulful baritone. The song selection remains a focused cycle, while at the same time eclectic enough to maintain listener's interest.

His first album, "This Heart of Mine," came out in late 2000. A collection of sensible, melodic power-pop tunes, the album coincided with the release of a novel by his mother, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, of the same title. The CD served as a promotional piece to the New York Times Best-Selling author's book, as well as a music collection in its own right.

Zach currently plays throughout clubs and coffeehouses in the Chicagoland area.
