Established in 1859 by Major John H. Kinzie and William B. Ogden, Rosehill is Chicago's oldest and largest non-sectarian cemetery. It covers 350 acres, with 24 miles of winding roads, and contains hundreds of Union Civil War soldiers, politicians and mercantile pioneers. Visitors may notice similarities between the style of the entrance and Chicago's Water Tower, two historic structures courtesy of William Boyington.
