The library is NOISY. I have to use my ear phone and muffler while studying, and at times regret going there. Their reason for the noise is because children are out of school. But I believe regardless of the children being out of school, they staffs should be able to control them. At times u hear the employees talking loudly and laughing. From my point of view on a scale of 1-10, I will rank the library 1 for reading friendly, and >10 on noisy. Something needs to be done about the NOISE.

BTW: The phone number listed on this site is wrong! It should be

NOT a 773 area code. ~B

Focus on architecture, not content. This branch has very little in it's stacks, although offers a nice selection of world newpapers and quite a few computers.
The place is spacious and airy, but I was not impressed with the book selection at all.
Washington, still has my vote if you want to go to the biggest and best library in Chicago.
