I am from Beverly and try and make a point of patronizing independently owned shops/restaurants but I don't think I will make a point of going back here. We have had a private dinner party for 18 next door at Beverly's pantry and have been to Cafe 103 2 times now. The staff is less than attentive and the owner couldn't be bothered with questions or even to greet diners with a smile. Franconello's owner still manages to greet diners, walk the floor and inquire how meals are after 20 plus years of being open. I'm so disappointed because I do look forward to places like this opening up in the area.

Back in May I read in the Chicago Magazine that Cafe 103 is one of the Best New Restaurants in 2008 and they really proved to be! The dinning area is small but so comfortable! It was nice not to be an over-sized, over-crowded restaurant where we are lost in the shuffle. The wait staff and owner were attentive to everybody’s needs. The food was unbelievable! We started with the Buffalo Soft Shell Crab. What an explosion of great flavors! Shared the soup and a salad. I ordered the steak entrée in the red wine demi. Never have I tasted such great quality meat! A friend ordered the 14oz pork chop with homemade späetzle. It was the best pork chop I’ve ever tasted! Normally I don’t eat dessert but the server convinced us to split the banana split! I am so glad he did! What a great twist on such an old-time dessert. We were surprised to see the corkage feel is only $5. You never see it that low. I will recommend Café 103 to everyone! It’s so nice to finally have a great quality restaurant with great food and service in Beverly!

Stupid or Arrogant? Online reviews that I read indicated that this restaurant does not serve any bread with their meals. So, when I went there with friends, I asked if it was OK to bring in our own bread, to help enjoy the chef's sauces. They said NO! And, they didn't serve bread with our meal.

Absolutely amazing in every respect. Food and presentation are impeccably done, service is outstanding and the ambience is very pleasant. I truly can't give enough praise for this wonderful gem of a restaraunt in Beverly.
