the review is very accurate and i personally understand why no elaboration was made regarding the skill level of the trainers. the trainers are not very skilled. my experience was odd. my trainer was very distracted by the movements of other clients. i felt like i was being dragged around without a purpose. not so good for training.

As a Personal Trainer who has worked at many gyms, I have to say Evanston Athletic Club is one of the nicest gyms I've ever worked at. It is modest in size but it has the equipment and classes to compete with much larger chain gyms. The general feel is that of a Neighborhood/Family gym. Lots of different ages groups from 18 to 88. Lots of classes and new equipment. IF you are use to the hustle and bustle of gyms like Bally's, L.A. Fitness and X-Sport, perhaps this isn't the gym for you. But if you like a place with a homey family atmosphere check it out.... it'll be worth your while.

I think that the Evanston Athletic club has a great atmosphere, as far as most of the people go anyway. There are a lot of young, jobless Mother's who live off of their very unattractive husbands. The swimming pool is nothing hype but they do have some cool Steam rooms. The Kids Club is great for those jobless mother's who want to dump off their their kids. The Kids club however is poorly run and very unorganized.
Overall, there are nice people but I would stick to lifetime fitness or something. Way too expensive.
