On our way out of the bar (coats on and exiting), a bouncer confused our friend with someone else and told one of the other bouncers to kick him out. It was just 3 of us girls and 1 husband at this point. The bouncer then shoved one of the girls in our group. She fell back fortunately catching herself on the stair handle. One of our other friends said to the bouncer "hey, she's a girl" and the bouncer replied to her that "I have no problem hitting a girl" in a rude and threatening tone. Several other bouncers arrived to the scene. They kept telling us to leave, but they were blocking our pathway to the exit. The bouncers completely overreacted and created an unnecessary dramatic situation. We had a drink there, but were far from being drunk. To have fun at this bar, you probably need to be wasted. Regardless of how trashy a dive bar is, the bouncers have no right to be that physcially rough with anyone especially petite harmless girls. This place is for a sloppy drunken evening full of trash, drama, dirty bathrooms, and rude staff. Life is too short to waste a night on this place. There are too many other bars in Chicago...

OMG this place is to die for. I went there with some buds looking to get laid and I totally got teabagged by a hot cougar. She took me to her place, tied me up and tea bagged me like some guy in Deliverance. It was like totally awesome. I would definitely recommend this place totally.

i loved it there! it was my first time there and my mom was in town, we had a blast. the staff was so friendly and nice. the girls bathroom did smell aweful but it was clean... so it's more on the girl that did it, gross. but it was a great night i can't wait to go back!

The most disgusting bar I've ever been to. They have a HUGE plumbing problem, and the entire downstairs smelled like sewer. GROSS! You couldn't even breathe in the bathrooms! I wouldn't ever go back, and would advice everyone to stay the heck away from this dump!

Always awesome time, hot fun chicks everywhere, yeah overpriced and service can be slow, but it's a very popular and crowded place. Forgot my MasterCard there once after crawling out at 3 a.m., called at 11 a.m. and they had it but the bar wouldn't be open before my flight left, so they dropped it off at The Lodge for me to pick up early. Very very considerate and helpful!

Best bar I have been to in a long time. The bartenders and waitresses are hot, the fact that they are good at what they do is just an extra bonus.

The Manager at Hangee Upee is a total power-trippin' jerk! I've had my run-ins with him too. Granted, he has to deal with a lot of drunken fools but he should also recognize some of these drukards are locals, and repeat customers, who bring thier friends there and who are in a position to influence opinions. I guess when you do 90% of your business on the weekends, and you're at max capcity every Thurs-Sat, you can afford to treat people like crap.

I also had one very bad experience at the Hangge Uppe. I have been there many times over the last couple of years, and it has always been a fun place to go for a very late night, especially since I live very close to the front door :) However, one recent Monday night, me and a few friends were there when it was pretty empty, and the manager got physically violent with my friend, who was trying to quickly finish his drink before leaving. It was the most unnecessary use of force that I have ever seen and was very disturbing. Fun bar, but be CAREFUL to avoid the bouncers and manager. I'm not sure I will ever go back even though it is so convenient and close.

the bar itself is fun bc of the people. however, the manager was awful! he was so rude and actually grabbed my friend's drink and shoved it in his face and shoved my friend into a wall. this was all because we weren't finishing our drinks fast enough for him, even though last call was only ten minutes ago, and he was antsy to close up. how rude! the manager reacted so violently, we had to call the cops. beware!
