I HAVE SUPPORTED ALL THE AFRICAN FESTIVALS! LATELY AS THE VENDORS BECOME FEWER, I HAVE QUESTION THE REASON.THERE IS A LARGE PRICE TAG CONNECTED TO SELLING IN THE (OUTSIDE) PARK $6-8 HUNDRED DOLLARS AS WELL ANOTHER $180.00 FEE;MAKING IT A DESPERATE ATTEMPT FOR VENDORS TO GET A RETURN ON THERE MONEY. RAISING THE PRICES OF ITEMS THAT ONE WERE RELATIVITY REASONABLY PRICED. SOON THERE WILL NOT BE A AFRICAN FEST, TASTE OF CHICAGO, OR MANY OTHER CHICAGO EVENTS BECAUSE OF GREED. OH WELL I WILL ADJUST LIKE WE ALWAYS DO BECAUSE YOU CAN'T HAVE MORE THAN I AM WILLING TO GIVE FOR A DAY AT THE PARK!

Me and my wife have attended the festival for the last 5 years and we love it although we would love to see the Afro-Latin connection of the caribbean(Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, & Cuba) represented more. Salsa & merenque with all of its 'natural' instruments & percussions & foods got their roots from the "Motherland" also and it should not be forgotten!

The largest proportion of the African-Caribbean population in the UK are of Jamaican origin; others trace origins to nations such as Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Barbados, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, Dominica, Montserrat, Anguilla, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Guyana, which though located on the South American mainland, is very culturally similar to the Caribbean, and was historically considered to be part of the British West Indies, and Belize (formerly British Honduras), in Central America, which culturally is more akin to the English-speaking Caribbean than to Latin America, due to its colonial and still-extant economic ties to the UK.

We had a great time- all four days! Everything from the Caribbean food, to the performers! My only dissappointment was that in such a large park, after purchasing beer/wine, we were instructed to drink ONLY in a beer garden. It was a very small and confined area. But with the gate charge being $10-$15 dollars, beer/wine $5.oo dollars, I just don't see how the vendors profited.

I must say that Saturday night of the Festival I was completely blown away by Leon (the actor) and his band Leon & The Peoples. What an entertaining and engaging set. He involves the audience and really puts on a show. Their songs are great!! I've since purchased their CD and trust me, you will not be disappointed. Can't wait to see them again. Big ups to the Fest for bringing us something new and fresh!!!
