Best neikghborhood bar. And I suggest that you try the Jefferson Parker martini, it's so worth it...

It is a great bar. The food and service is excellent and the vibe is cool. Great beer selection too! And the neighborhood is just perfect, even if it is not "high class" enough for others....

Montrose and Milwaukee, a neighborhood that was taking a turn for the worst a few years ago. Then out of nowhere...A new bar emerges" Hops and Barley" A fantastic place for drinks, food, sports, friends..casual or dressy. This place in by the far the best, cleanest sports bar/tavern drinking establishment I have been in...This bar has brought a high class atomosphere, to a not so high class area. The service is great the food is better. Affordable, laid back, and a very safe place to just hang out. Thanks to the owners for caring about the neighborhood, and turning it around. 5 stars with out a doubt.

I love Hops n Barley!! The staff is very friendly and tactful, the food is incredible and the atmosphere is very laid back and fun. You can go there in jeans or dress up. Either way, you will have a great time. Can't wait 'til it's warm out, so the outdoor patio area is set up. That is a must in the summertime.

Location is excellent at the corner of Milwaukee and Lawrence. The Service even at it's busiest is quick and courteous. I have had the opportunity to meet the owners that happen to be brothers, Marcus and Robert, both always find time to say hello. The food I had, the crab rolls, and Hops and Barley burger cooked just the way I like it,The wings if I ask for hot, can give a flavorful heat that makes me enjoy having a beer with it even more. The Plasma TV'S allow an atmoesphere that gives the sports fan like myself the perfect back drop. I have also gone downstairs to the mini bar with comfortable seating and a pool table. Talk about a place that I want to come back to ,and I have. This is just what a person who wants a nice place to drink ,eat, talk, and watch a sports event would like to be found in.But don't expect dance music or live bands here.
