Had my first Capt'n Nemo's when I was a student at Norhtwestern, and I got all my fraternity brothers hooked on it, too. A visit to Chicago is not complete without Nemo's and Walker Bros.

I too lived around the corner on Jarvis growin gup.

I went in there the first day Cap'n Nemos was open and was hooked. The Cap'n and his wife remebered all the customers by name from that first day.

I have never had a sub as good anywhere else. The soup was out of this world. And I always enjoyed talking to Lou (Cap'n Nemo) and his family. The wait was always entertaining as the family interacted as they made your sub.

Is Lou still alive and working? I have not been back since my dad moved away from Jarvis in the 80's

I am so glad they are still going strong today.

I used to live above Capt'n Nemos and it was hard not to eat there every week since the smell of their soups and bread made its way all the way to our doors. They are by far the best subs I've ever had. Potbelly's comes close but still no cigar.

The original Nemo's was on the S.E. corner of Jarvis and Clark and our place was the first house down from it on the South side of Jarvis. Since fast food was not that widespread at the time and the fact that we were young single guys that sometimes had a very serious need for munchies, Nemo's was the answer to our prayers. Since we really were getting tired of brown rice and Dinty Moore Beef Stew, we were thrilled that a place was going to open within just a few hobbles from our porch where we could get something better.

So when they opened, we were the first customers. The Captain and his family manned it back then and they had great inexpensive subs and some of the best soups I've ever had. He gave free samples of the soup out while you waited for the sandwiches, and they also gave us extra soup to take home because they were nice folks and I think they just felt sorry for us. I also remember the good natured banter that always went on between the family as they worked - almost like they were some kind of improv troupe. It was entertainment.

I was a kid in Roger's Park in the early 70's and my folks had a shop accross the street from the original store on Clark Street. I have many great memories of going to Captain Nemos. I used to love their homemade pound cake. Their subs will always be the standard for what I remember as the best tasting sub ever.

Capt'n Nemo's is a Rogers Park and Chicago institution. They have the best sandwiches and soups I've ever tasted. Huge, mouthwatering subs and absolutely delicious soups (their lentil is my favorite). I discovered them while playing little league at Pottowattomie park right around the corner in 1981. They were great after games when I was a kid and are still great today!

Capt'N"Nemos is the Best Sandwich shop on the planet!... I have been a patron for over 20 yrs. I met the family many times in the late 70's and not only the food was great but the family members were also! I have never been disappointed-- I Love Them Period!!

My favorite sandwich is the Seafarer and any soup of the day. I've never been disappointed with their service or food. Best sandwich and soup combo around. I used to work about 3 blocks from the Clark St. location about 8 years ago our office moved to Lincolnwood, IL so my visits are not as frequent.

I grew up with Capn Nemos. My favorite is the South seas sandwich. I also live in California now and every time I go to Chicago I stop by for a sandwich and a bowl of Mrs. Nemos delicious ministrone... Simply nothing like the Capn'.!
