We only have a finite number of days to enjoy in Chicago, so you better not waste them. And what better way to get out and enjoy the weather than by joining a sports team? Get out and get fit with these groups.
Players Sports Group
More than 40,000 Chicagoans use Players for all their sports-gaming needs, and with good reason. Spring/summer sports include the favorites like softball, kickball, volleyball (indoor and beach), and tennis, as well as spring football and soccer leagues. While they don't always offer the best range of skill levels, the leagues are well run and officials are usually provided. Sponsors include Lottie's Pub and The Spot.
Chicago Sport and Social Club
Sport and Social offers many of the same activities as Players, but also focuses on the social networking aspect, letting you create profiles, add photos of your events and join social events like Cubs game outings. Suburbanites take note: CSSC also offers leagues in Naperville.
Singles Softball Sundays
If you're single and looking to play softball, you might as well kill two birds with one stone. This league usually plays games at Oz Park and recently added another league at Wrightwood Park. Spaces are going fast, so hustle up if you want to get in.
Chicago Sports Monster
This is probably the least competitive of the major Chicago rec sports leagues, but still offers many of the same sports. Spring/summer leagues include softball, volleyball, dodgeball, golf and tennis. Sponsor bars include Jack's Bar & Grill and Glascott's.
Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association
The largest not-for-profit gay and lesbian sports organization in the Midwest, CMSA offers recreational and competitive-level play throughout the year and welcomes all persons who wish to play, regardless of sexual orientation, gender or gender identity.
